ZANSCARE EMPIRE FORCES (BESPA) BEGIN EARTH INVASION OPERATION!

Universal Century. Upon completion of the space colonies, artificial space cities, mankind made it possible to migrate into space, expanding their sphere of living.

Clusters of numerous colonies orbiting around the Earth are classified as autonomous districts known as Sides. A self-sufficiency system based on the development of space resources from the far reaches of the Jupiter sphere supported the lives of the space immigrants who makd up a majority of mankind.

However, the long-standing rule over the Earth Sphere by the Earth Federation government is but a shell of its former self, and brought about stagnation in every aspect of politics, economics, culture and manufacturing. A conflict occurred from Side 2 around the moon. The people living in this Side, consisting of 70-80 colonies, were dissatified with the administration of the Earth Federation government. The Gatie Party, founded by Fonse Kagatie, declares the foundation of the Zanscare Empire with Maria Armonia as Queen and almost all of Side 2 under their control.

The Zanscare Empire began to extend their power towards Earth for the creation of a new order in outer space.

BESPA descended onto Eastern Europe’s Largane in order to make the airfield of this place their advance base.

Their objective was controlling the special living area of Woowig managed by the Earth Federation government as well as the facilities related to it, but it seems that their goal was also striking back at the anti-Zanscare and anti-Federation resistance organizations hiding around Woowig.

The organization known as BESPA stands for Ballistic Equipment & Space Patrol Armory. When the Zanscare Empire took over the Earth Federation Forces stationed at Side 2, it was an agency setup for reorganizing armaments that had become outdated. It is the Zanscare Empire’s army.

With the Earth Federation government forces weakening, there was no way to attack BESPA’s Yellowjacket advance party.

However, a resistance organization called League Militaire was trying to take a stand against BESPA in place of the Federation Forces.

There are many members in the League Militaire who are veterans of the Federation Forces and private sector who were manufacturing mobile suits and they completed a suit with their own technology to take on BESPAs latest mobile suits.

It was called the V Gundam, a symbol of victory and homage to the once legendary mobile suit!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE GUN EZ DEVELOPMENT

This craft was developed to combat the mobile suits of the Yellowjacket when the Zanscare Empire’s pending invasion of Earth was decided.

The E02 development code is proof that the Gun EZ was developed before the V Gundam. However, in that case, there should be a mobile suit developed by the League Militiaire first with a code of 01. It is said that the development of the Gun EZ took place in an underground facility on the outskirts of the city of Saint Joseph on the Moon. The power of the Lunarians is strong following Von Braun City and it’s an area where interference from the Federation government didn’t reach.

The leaders of the League Militaire were carrying out independent development of mobile suits which would become a decisive battle weapons with their base here. Eventually, the concept of a multiple (transformable) mobile suit is born and the production plant would be transferred down to Earth. It is said that a former SNRI (Strategic Naval Research Institute) technician helped develop it. However, because some of them aided in the mobile suit development for the Zanscare Empire, they’re said to have proceeded with the development of the Gun EZ, pretending to have deleted 01 in fear of an intelligence leak.

Two prototypes were manufactured. Upon completion, various tests were conducted with an unpainted Gundarium alloy texture.

They were not equipped with identifying armaments such as head mounted Vulcan cannons or beam saber storage racks.

Unit 1 is deployed to the Shrike Team along with test pilot Junko Jenko. At that time, it was given a standardized overhaul and outfitted with weaponry and abilities that were identical to the mass production unit. At the same time, the color of the suit was replaced with olive green. The remaining Unit 2 was later repainted in the so-called Gundam colors, which was based on the colors of white, red, blue and yellow and basic ability tests continued.

Suits were mass produced in accordance with the formation of the Shrike Team. It has fixed weaponry from the time of manufacturing and six units were produced.

The Gun EZ of Junko Jenko, leader of the Shrike Team, is an upgraded unit from the prototype mentioned previously.

For that reason, Unit 8 was temporarily piloted by Oliver Inoe but it later became a spare unit for removing parts.

Mass production of the Gun EZ is aggressively pushed forward in comparison to the costly Victory type. There is almost no difference from the early type and by its looks, there is a lack of rear armor features.

Even after deployment of the reinforced Gunblaster began, production of the Gun EZ has continued for troops in the Earth Sphere. The painting has been changed to the same coloring as the Gunblaster.

Among the Gun EZ that were deployed in the Earth Sphere, there were suits that were modified for anti-sand/dust protection.

In terms of appearance, there are differences such as adding fins to the nozzles of the intake and thrusters or changing the heat radiation grill. The modifications were carried out almost entirely by the on-site forces. Therefore, it is not included in the classification by development code.

While it was the Gun EZ which was considered for in outer space from the beginning, this is the machine that replaced the back thrusters with a high mobility type booster so it could respond to more tactically advanced operations.

The Gun Blaster was simultaneously produced at a constant rate as the Gun EZ production line.

Also, even though only the back booster devices are produced, many suits have been replaced with the Gun Blaster, starting with the Shrike Team.

In addition, the color of this suit has been changed to a green base that is brighter than this group, and changes in coloring were also being made at the time the back units were replaced in existing units.

The League Militaire networked its groups scattered across various areas making it possible to produce mobile suits at each individual factory. They revived the legendary mobile suit Gundam as a symbol of the resistance movement against the Zanscare Empire. The V Gundam is the symbol of victory.

In addition to the feature of being able to operate by separating its upper and lower body, the V Gundam is a mobile suit that uses the Core Block System (CBS) adopted by the first Gundam. The head and main generator of the V Gundam, said to the B-part, is a block that transforms into a core fighter.

In addition, the top limb (A-part) of the upper body is combined with the core fighter and becomes the top fighter. The bottom limb (C-part) of the lower body also combines with the core fighter to become the bottom fighter and individual operation as a combat machine is possible. Furthermore, it is a revolutionary mobile suit that can achieve various tactical levels with an armament system based on hard points.

The development of the Victory type was conducted at League Militaire factories spread out across Europe. They utilized manufacturing facilities in factories such as automobiles and airplanes from the old century that were left in the area.

It was manufactured based on the same design, but because of unique adjustments in each factory, slight differences arose.

There is no distinction as to what number it is exactly for the Victory types as each part was produced in various locations. However, for the sake of convenience, we are treating the suit that Uso Ewin pilots as Unit 1.

The top limb supplied by the Camion Team was characterized by its upper arm shape being squared. From a design point of view, it is said that the round mold that was produced later is the correct interpretation, but it is said to have been made into a square shape to make it easier to lock in order to ensure reliable operation for transformation.

Incidentally, the test pilot of this machine is Marbet Fingerhat, but it is well known that Uso became pilot due to her injuries.

STANDARD TYPE

This is also the name for Uso’s unit, though there is no major changes in particular. The upper arm section is adjusted to a round shape as indicated in the design. This is also the unit that Oliver Inoe piloted when linking up with the Camion Team. The same is true for the two V Gundam units that were transported to Bechyne airfield.

Since the parts for A, B and C were produced at various factories, the actual number of Victory types produced isn’t known. It’s possible that around 20 units were completed on Earth.

■Vガンタムヘキサ
V GUNDAM HEXA

A commander type which was produced in limited numbers in the later stages of mass production of the Victory type. The head attached to the core fighter (B-part) was modified and communication and search functionalities were improved. In terms of appearance, only the head was changed as it eliminated the V-shaped antenna and instead mounted a high-performance antenna on either side of the head.

While there were no modifications to the top or bottom limb in this case, its various performances are the same as an ordinary Victory type.

Furthermore, the Hexa type produced at the League Militaire’s secret factory on the moon late in the year was painted blue on the top of the foot to distinguish it from a regular V Gundam.

Incidentally, the origin of the Hexa’s name comes from the code number of “06”.

■Vダッシュガンダム
V DASH GUNDAM

The V Gundam’s Victory type backpack is retrofitted with a support device equipped with two overhang cannons as added firepower. For convenience it is called the V Dash Gundam.

This support device can be outfitted on the B-part, that is the core fighter alone, and in this mode it is adjusted to form a core booster by separating and transforming into each unit.

The device itself is for offense use but it also serves as a cruise function (for long distances). Of course, this device can also be mounted on the Hexa type.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE JAMESGUN

The Jamesgun is a mobile suit that Anaheim Electronics was tasked with developing and producing as a successor to the RGM-109 Heavygun, the main mobile suit of the Federation Forces that had become obsolete. Initially, the required performance for the Earth Federation Forces side was about the same as that of the Heavygun, with an emphasis placed on simplicity of maintenance. In short, this suit was a mass production type of general purpose mobile suit, an extension of the RGM series.

However, with the existence of SNRI’s F-Series (Formula Series) becoming a situation that couldn’t be ignored during its development period, it was suddenly decided that a major project overhaul would occur.

They intended to develop two types of suits, one for space and one for ground (including operation inside of colonies and under gravity) with the same basic frame design. Here, two mobile suits such as the Jamesgun for ground use and the Javelin for space use would be born.

While the Jamesgun is a relatively small mobile suit, many sections follow the design of the older RGM-89 Jegan. This likely gave off an air of confidence for Federation military personnel for the Jegan, which had seen continued use even after U.C.0120.

While formal adoption of the Jamesgun was in U.C.0119, due to delays in production, only seven suits participated as part of a suppression force against the Crossbone Vanguard’s uprising in U.C.0123. Since it was also tasked with defending Federation Forces military facilities on the moon, practical evaluation was not yet determined.

Federation soldiers who saw action with the Jamesgun voiced concern over a lack of generator output.

In part, some even voiced that the suits were not mobile suits but mobile workers.

On the other hand, it has an advantage to operate with some modification even in areas with severe weather conditions such as Africa, South America and the Arctic without any problems.

The Jamesgun is an old suit that has been in operation for more than thirty years since being formally adopted, but it is very useful for Federation Forces garrisons in various regions and has a high rate of operation.

There is no change in performance like this, with the exception of emergency modifications done on-site.

The initial concept of the Jamesgun had no operational concept for ground use. Therefore, it wasn’t until around U.C.0120~0125 when assignments began that the light green previously adopted by the Heavygun and G-Cannon was used. All 7 early production units that were incorporated into the Granada garrison at the time of the Frontier Side subjugation by the Crossbone Vanguard were painted that color.

The Earth Federation Forces general purpose mass production type mobile suit whose coloring is inherited from the traditional GM. However, this wasn’t for practical purposes and only a handful were painted for fleet formality.

This was merely tentative until the Javelin was deployed in its place. There are theories that suggest thrusters and apogee motors were replaced for use in space but it is not certain.

A guardian type deployed for the defense of each Side’s space colonies.

It was officially painted light green until around U.C.0130 but it was changed to the coloring adopted by the GM Command (G-type) for inside colonies.

A gray standard paint that is commonly known as the Jamesgun paint. Except for some tropical areas, the suits deployed on the Earth in U.C.0153 are almost all in this coloring.

The color of the suits deployed around Lhasa, Tibet where there was an important Federation Forces base. Originally it seems to have been a color for the garrisons in the Asian region centered around Hong Kong.

This coloring is for suits deployed for patrolling around the former Earth Federation Forces headquarters in Jaburo. Their mission is to the extent of preventing materials and nuclear fuel theft. It is said that this is the jungle specification.

AAAA TEAM

The AAAA Team (aka Four Avengers) is in possession of Jamesguns with a D-type code number assigned to them, modifications performed on-site as they contend with BESPA’s African district suppression forces on the African Front. As the name suggests, Lieutenant Robert Gomez, who aided the League Militaire, belonged to this unit of warriors with four mobile suits. With cooperation from the League Militaire’s nocturnal assault combat unit and the Bluebird team, they put a stop to BESPA’s advancing forces near Kilimanjaro.

The Zoloat was the first mobile suit BESPA successfully put into practical use and it was given the development code ZM-06S. Development of mobile suits suitable for operating under gravity was urgently needed in the case of the Earth drop operation being decided on in U.C.0153.

Engineers from the former SNRI (Strategic Naval Research Institute) applied the technology of beam shields and made it possible to make a Minovsky Craft with a mobile suits generator, which for a time had not been realized without a huge generator from a battleship-class.

Rotating the beam shield like a rotor it uses the repulsive force of Minovsky particles rather than dynamic lift. This new mechanism was adopted for the ZM-S08G Zolo which was developed with the Zoloat as a base and it is equipped as standard equipment on prototype mobile suits such as the Shokew and Godzorla.

The Zolo is a suit designed with the most effective use of the beam rotor. It is a variable mobile suit that transforms the upper body and lower body separately into a flight mode called top terminal and bottom terminal respectively.

The pilot boards the top terminal while the lower body is an unmanned craft and is controlled remotely by Minovsky control. Since docking is carried out via laser guidance, there are no problems even under Minovsky particle dispersal.

The appearance of the top terminal is very reminiscent to combat helicopters of the old century and it has vulcan guns in its nose for mopping up the ground. It is also possible to mount 9-tube missile pods or propellant tanks (booster tank) on the underside of the main wings.

The bottom terminal is equipped with a bombing unit between the legs, or it can be equipped with a multi-bazooka or gatling gun. However, the use of firearms is limited in mobile suit mode.

As a result of the completion of the variable type Tomliat, a successor unit, as well as the Zoloat’s ground type Zollidia, its deployment was regulated to a very limited area yet its prestige as a high-performance unit would likely be handed down to future generations.

The standard painting variation of the Zolo for the Ra Gaine base deployment is dark green and gray.

PROTOTYPE MOBILE SUIT EVALUATION SQUADRON

Among the Yellowjacket’s stations at Ra Gain base, the 3^rd Fighter Squadron also serves as an evaluation unit for BESPA’s prototype mobile suits. Cronicle, who first came down to the Earth, became squadron leader and immediately tested the ZMT-S12G Shokew in the atmosphere. During the test flight he discovered the League Militaire’s Core Fighter and came in contact with Uso’s para-glider during pursuit.

Because Cronicle holds the status of being Zanscare Empire’s Queen Maria Pure Armonia’s younger brother, there are instances where Ensign Garry Tunn (as right hand man) takes command of the evaluation squadron.

Since the Zolo deployed to this squadron are all advance mass production test types, there are also some suits with slight differences from the mass produced versions. Among them, Cronicle’s suit is said to be a specifically designed unit that has a supped-up thruster output and apogee motors. It’s crimson coloring comes from Cronicle’s performance.

THE TOMLIAT AND THE PIPINIDEN SQUADRON

Lieutenant Arbeo Pipiniden was Cronicle Asher’s senior during his military academy days. Highly trusted by the Yellowjacket’s commander Captain Tassilo Wago, he was dispatched from the Keilas-Guilie with the intent to supplement the forces of the Ra Gaine base following the loss of Lieutenant Wattary Gilla.

However, on the surface it seemed that his goal was to try and install himself over Commander Fuala Gliffon who had publicly executed Oy Nung at the guillotine. Consequently, Lieutenant Gettle Dupre ended up in the position of commander of the Ra Gaine base and too eager to prove himself, he sortied himself and died in combat against the Shrike Team.

The state-of-the-art general purpose mass production variable mobile suit Tomliat is deployed to the Pippiniden Squadron. The Tomliat can transform into a combat helicopter mode as a single unit and its offensive capabilities are considerably higher than the Zolo. Furthermore, it is capable of utilizing a multi-bazooka that can fire both beams and solid rounds. This weapon was developed for use by the Zolo, but it was used by the Tomliat as it showed results in real combat. In close combat situations, it utilizes a beam tomahawk with highly destructive power versus a beam saber.

The Pippiniden Squadron is comprised of three teams with three units each (for a total of 9 units). The 01^st Team is Pippiniden and the 02^nd Team is Lieutenant Repet Cineau. For the 03^rd Team, while Ensign Kwan Lee is the leader, in cases where Pippiniden is unable to sortie, Ensign Quissaloria takes command.

Prior to his arrival at the Ra Gaine base, Quissaloria supports the Gattarl squad, Lieutenant Duker Iq’s combat bike forces but damages two units against the V Gundam’s counterattack.

The second sortie sees Pippiniden heading out himself to take command and he is accompanied by his subordinates Quila and Jill along with six units. Although he lost two units, he seemed to have succeeded in capturing the V Gundam. However, he loses another unit after coming under attack by Oliver Inoe piloting a bottom fighter.

At the request of Gettle Dupre, they’re lent three Tomliat units, but all of Dupre’s forces along with the Zolo’s are destroyed due to the efforts of the V Gundam and the Shrike Team’s Gun EZ.

Pippiniden ordered Repet Cineau and Kwan Lee to pursue the League Militaire adding additional units. Although Repet’s team cornered a Federation Forces carrier at a former Bechyne airfield along with the Gattarl squad, she lost comrades in a desperate attack by the Shrike Team’s Helen including her own suit being destroyed.

Fuala Gliffon made a final gamble to attack the PCST vessel in the non-combat area of Arti Gibraltar. While Repet Ceneau and Kwan Lee were under her command, it was Kwan Lee who was defeated before Uso’s V Gundam in a prototype Memedorza. However, the Shrike Team also lost Maheria and Kite. While the Pippiniden Circus was an exquisite formation for the elite of the League Militaire, their losses were also significant.

The Tomliat is also deployed to the African region suppression forces with Ra Gaine as the center. Among the Tomliat deployed at the Ra Gain base, the suits are painted in a dark green color for general Yellowjacket soldiers.

As occupations were occurring during the Earth Invasion operation, a special forces was formed for reconnaissance of resistance forces.

The suit known as the E Type is an upgraded Tomliat and is equipped with various radars as well as normal and night vision switching cameras on both soldiers and waist armor. Also, the main wings have been enlarged and stealth verniers were replaced. For actual reconnaissance missions, a single E type is essentially accompanied by two or three other units (also upgraded units). They operate mainly in helicopter mode. Furthermore, since reconnaissance operations were limited to nighttime, the suits were entirely black and called “Black Widows” after the poisonous spider.

ABOUT LEAGUE MILITIARE/FEDERATION FORCES MOBILE SUIT SMALL ARMS

In short, even if it’s called a mobile suit firearm, its form and specification are significantly different depending on its strategy, tactic and usage.

Even though the League Militaire independently developed the V Gundam and Gun EZ, the fact remains that they’re only a guerilla organization. Their poor abilities simply cannot be compared to the military strength of the Zanscare Empire. It was also a major reason that led the V Gundam and V2 Gundam, developed as transformable mobile suits, to split up their production to hide from BESPA’s secret police. In addition, by dividing each section into blocks, it simplified maintenance and repairs, and gave them an advantage in regaining their balance. Even in the case of the non-transformable Gun EZ, consideration was given to be able to share parts with the V Gundam and V2 Gundam. Furthermore, some parts and armor were also exchangeable with Federation Forces mobile suits such as the Jamesgun and Javelin.

The League Militaire uses a beam rifle shared between the V Gundam and Gun EZ. This is due largely in part of the inner circumstances of the League Militaire.

However, the League Militaire’s tactical officers certainly didn’t oppose low output beam rifles made by the Federation Forces. The basic design consists of a launcher called a beam pistol as well as devices such as a barrel for increased output, multisites, energy units and packs.

The beam rifle for the V2 Gundam also didn’t change the basic composition. It should be noted that a multi-launcher that fires signal rounds and grenades was added to the fore grip part. Of course, increased power is also being planned.

The beam bazooka is known to be the common firearm of the League Militaire and Earth Federation Forces. This weapon is such a popular type of beam launcher which was spotlighted as a weapon for the new generation of mobile suits in the 0120s.

Owing its design to SNRI, it was equipped on the F90IIIY Cluster Gundam for testing. Afterwards, it was officially adopted by the Earth Federation Forces and the Jamesgun and Javelin began using it. Production is currently being carried out by Anaheim.

The beam bazooka used by the League Militaire has the same appearance but the capacity of the energy pack and the connector parts connected to the hard points has been improved.

The hardpoints on Federation Forces mobile suits are just weapons racks.

Finally, let’s add commentary on the mega beam rifle used by the V Dash Gundam. Although it’s called a rifle, it is an anti-ship class heavy weapon that boasts more power than that of a launcher and it cannot be utilized without the V Dash Gundam which strengthened the overall output with a support device.

The mega beam rifle along with the 8-handed beam saber was stored at the armory on the solar cell satellite Hiland. It wasn’t developed by the League Militaire and it seems to have been created for another mobile suit quite a while ago, but it is completely compatible with the V Gundam.

There are several types of beam sabers, but the League Militaire and the Federation Forces mobile suits are able to adapt to various types.

ABOUT ZANSCARE FORCES (BESPA) MOBILE SUIT SMALL ARMS

The mobile suit development for the Zanscare Empire was started with the Ballistic Equipment & Space Patrol Armory and a vast variety of mobile suits were being manufactured. And, there were quite an abundance of weapons.

BESPA, the more common name for the Zanscare Empire forces, would equip their weapon binders with innovative technology such as beam strings which came from the Zoloat, the first mobile suit they produced.

At the time the Earth invasion operation began, missile pods and bomber units were prepared in order to utilize the Zolo as a combat helicopter or bomber. They achieved great results by occupying the Ra Gaine airport, bombing Woowig and suppressing the surrounding cities. BESPA who finished building up a base for controlling the European area began sweeping up the resistance organization known as the League Militaire and at the same time, organized an experimental company of prototype mobile suits stationed at the Ra Gaine base. Here, the ZMT-S12G Shokew, ZMT-13G Godzorla, and the ZMT-S16G Memedorza were tested and deployed and participated in actual combat. Also, separate from the Ra Gaine base, the Gattarl Squad of Lieutenant Duker Iq descended to Earth in order to collect data from the Motorad Ship. This unit is composed of battle bikes instead of mobile suits but they also utilize the transformable amphibious mobile suit ZMT-D15M Galguyu.

The prototype mobile suits, except for the Galguyu, all use the same standard beam rifle. It was later officially adopted for the Zollidia.

The ZMT-S08G Zolo’s basic armament is a beam rifle, which is stored in the storage space on the right leg. The beam bazooka was miniaturized so it can be put here as well. However, the power is considerably weaker than the beam bazooka of the Federation Forces/League Militaire and many soldiers were not pleased by this.

For that reason, Pippiniden’s Team began to utilize a multi-bazooka, which was beyond the control of the Zolo. This bazooka is an innovative heavy weapon that BESPA seemed to be able to use both solid round and beams.

One of the heavy weapons experimentally mounted on the Zolo is a large vulcan gun. Cronicle put it on the bottom limb and used in the first battle with the V Gundam. However, its weak points seems to be that it can only be used in mobile suit mode and control and firing are cumbersome, so there wasn’t much use for it on the Tomliat. From this data, a control arm that suppresses recoil when firing was developed and successfully put into practical use with the ZM-06G Zollidia.

This arms seems to be applied to the Zoloat’s weapon binder arm technology.

BESPA’s mobile suits sampled the reaction speed and range of the suite when they were all prototypes. Beam rifles adapted to that were developed. For that reason, all machines that were formally adopted have different weaponry. However, these don’t necessarily conform to other models and weapons that draw more performance from the model are being developed.

Beam sabers conformed to all suits much like the League Militaire and Federation Forces but, they’re generally classified as a small type that is stored inside the unit or a large type shared as a beam cannon like the Zolo.
