RS-82B-R IMPROVED GM II
The RS-82B is a machine that became the main mobile suit for the Federation Forces in place of the notorious RS-81 Nemo and its performance is comparable to the famous RX-78 Gundam. In contrast with the Nemo that had difficulty with maneuverability due to its design emphasizing heavy armoring, this suit was designed with emphasis on maneuverability. The name of the the GM II is derived from being very similar to the completed GM suit. The R-type is a machine that has been subjected to radical improvements for use by the frontier defense fleet and has greater enhanced enemy search capabilities as well as maneuverability. The R-type was used as the test base for the later Gundam Mk-II and the RX-86 Sam.
