PAPUA-CLASS SUPPLY SHIP

A transport vessel responsible for replenishing supplies for the Zeon forces. In the front of the hull is equipped with tanks loaded with propellant as well as a loading space for the transport of goods. The cylindrical units arranged on both sides of the hull are utilized when carrying goods on to other ships in outer space. A pleated pipe extends from the cylindrical unit and is connected with the ship to be replenished and goods are transported inside. Utilizing its high carrying capacity for the battle of Loum, it was incorporated into the Special Assault Regiment and was assigned the role of a quasi-mothership, transporting a large amount of mobile suits to the battle sector.

The forward supply loading area on the side of the hull opens to allow for materials to be unloaded. Mobile suits are also stored in this area and are transported to nearby combat areas and launched. The vessel is only equipped with twin-barrel anticraft guns in various places across the hull because the purpose of its use is solely for transport and replenishment.

The forward hangar can be divided into an upper and lower layer and further divided into three sections. Two mobile suits are stored in the first section and are secured with a belt during transport. Up to twelve units per side for a total of 24 units in all can be carried. During sortie, the forward hatch on either side opens and the work crane pulls the mobile suits out and they launch.
