Background

The Earth Federation Forces next generation mainline mobile suit developed by Anaheim Electronics.

In U.C.0094, as a trend of disarmament was increasing in the Federation Forces, a development policy was adopted regarding mobile suits. Rather that develop new models, existing models were refit to allow for various optional equipment exchanges so they could respond to a wide variety of uses.

Whereas the variable units and large craft developed since the Gryps War did not go much beyond experimental units in terms of overall strength and total cost, conventional mobile suits deployed following the One Year War were showing their age. This unit is what AE had in mind when they suggested it as the next generation mainline mobile suit: an advanced general-purpose and long term use machine.

This unit was planned to be the successor unit of the Federation Forces mainline mobile suit which began with the GM. Development moved forward in the form of expanding the technology of the AEUG’s main mobile suit Nemo which incorporated former Zeon technology. The shoulders and legs were expanded to allow for a special mount latch allowing for various optional equipment loadouts with ease. The main body weight was lightened to about half in comparison to the GM. As a result of this, the Federation higher ups weighed heavily on the level of its use and it became a suitable machine for the new age that greatly surpassed conventional models.

In addition, the excellence of this basic design is evident because various subtypes were developed from it. The [Type D] would become the parent unit to the Stark Jegan, a high mobility type.

Detail (Head) A trait of the head section is the large visor. The right side is equipped with a short-range use vulcan pod system in addition to a rod antenna.

Detail (Cockpit) A cockpit is located in the central portion of the chest. The Type D abolishes the arm raker for its control system, returning it to a much more orthodox style. (Hatch Open) The cockpit hatch is a standard type that is divided into two portions when opened. It’s possible to open just the lower portion to get off and on the unit. Furthermore, the lower portion can also be used as a pilot’s foothold.

Detail (Shield) On either side of the front portion of the shield are two, twin barrel missile launchers. It’s situated on the left arm as an attachment. It was adopted for its superb construction of its glacis plate for anti-beam abilities. (Beam Rifle) Standard equipment beam rifle preferred for its handling. It appears to be a development type descended from the beam rifles of the GM II and III. It demonstrates its power for rapid fire efficiency in short range combat and close combat. (Beam Saber) A beam saber capable of taking on two forms: a wide blade for slashing or narrow blade for thrusting. It is equipped with one saber carried in the weapons rack on the right hip. The rack is capable of rapid energy charge. (Grenade Rack) Hand grenades for close combat. Three are equipped in the weapon rack on its left hip. The grenade rounds used can select two kinds of fuses: a timed type and a sensor type depending on the situation.
