BACKGROUND
Like the Mad Angler-class, a former Federation Navy developed submarine, this class fell into the hands of the Zeon forces under similar circumstances. The accrued experience and technical know-how necessary for the maintenance and operation is not something that can be picked up overnight. The Zeon forces believed they solved this problem by entrusting former inhabitants of Earth with a history of naval service to be commanders and captain’s aides of the space dwellers. It’s said that many of them came from the Zeon occupied regions or that they were navy personnel who sympathized with Zeon and defected from the Federation. This plan succeeded and this class was utilized by those excellent servicemen and sank numerous Federation vessels. 24 vessels remained in service until the end of the war (as recorded)
