deackychu Okay, here’s my dilemma. I’m still waiting on my new debit card so I can purchase Gundam Ace and what not, but I’ve translated Crossbone Ghost and Iron Mustang based on scans in the meantime. Nonetheless, I’m having a major issue with Ghost. For those of you who may recall, we translated a name in Chapter 02 as “Circus”. The word is サーカス. Seems like it would be Circus, right?
Of course not.
Hasegawa has dubbed this one as “Thou-cus”, with the explanation being that it’s a shortening of サウザント・カスタム (thousant custom). So, essentially when this is translated into English the play on words is lost… any suggestions on how this could be rendered? I can’t exactly create my own sort of name change as that would detract from the central portion of the story, but I’m at a loss… [:/]
I refuse to make a translation note because… those are lame and highly unprofessional.
